Micha Mahler

Having grown up in a small village in the Black Forest in Germany, Micha (pron. "Meesha") acquired a love for nature and plants from a young age. After finishing his landscaping qualifications in Stuttgart in 1987 he worked with two different landscaping companies before establishing his own business in Germany. Immigrating to NZ in 1993, he then established Living Landscapes in 1995.

As Micha points out,

"We are a small, owner-operated business. The person that designs your garden is also involved in the hands on creation of your garden. We feel that this level of involvement in the design & build process not only means that the build will stay true to the essence of the design, but also that, where required, we can be more flexible and make changes to the design whilst in the build process (without the need to refer back to a designer or project manager who may not be working on site at the time)."

Living Landscapes puts you, the client, at the forefront of the project and always remembers that it's YOUR garden, your haven and has to suit your unique lifestyle.

Since 2006 Micha has also been working as a part time tutor for Hort Training NZ.

"We developed training courses for NZHITO (NZ Horticultural Industry Training Organization), teaching landscaping apprentices. I believe training and education is a key element for professional workmanship."
